If you have severe dental issues, you may need to keep your braces on all the time. This means that you will need to wear the straightening device 24 hours per day. This is how regular braces work but, you have another choice.

You can have clear braces installed and it will reduce the visibility of that is in your mouth. Clear braces are not invisible. You can still see some of the wires and there is a still a chance you will get food stuck in the hooks and joints. However, it cuts down on the visibility, making them preferable for those uncomfortable with lots of metal.

In cases where 24 hour a day straightening is not necessary, consider a removable product. This device is similar to retainers because it can be removed while eating and sleeping. However, they mold over all of the teeth in your mouth, creating a gentle pressure on your teeth that is applied for 16-20 hours per day. How much you have to wear the device will depend on your particular straightening needs. The products that work this way are practically invisible, so in most cases, unless others see you removing the straightening device, or you tell them you are wearing it, they will have no idea you are wearing a straightening device.

This works for people who do not need constant straightening pressure. It also works great if you want to be able to remove your straightening device for a special event.
